Just a freshman, Michaelis made a big impact in the game and on us in what is a really talented freshman class this year in the state of Nebraska. Already 5-9, Michaelis has an all-around game. On Tuesday, she scored 10 points on just seven shots and made 2-for-3 from beyond the arc. On the season she is averaging 5.4 points for the Skyhawks and is a 78% free throw shooter.

Skutt Catholic is going to be in a rebuild this Winter as they bring in a new coaching staff and new main producers. Someone out of their 2029 Class, who has a lot of promise is

as a CG. Michaelis can also move to the Forward spot but as she plays better competition, she is going to have to adapt to being more of a guard. Which is okay because that’s how it will be at the collegiate level as well. It’ll be interesting to see how this program adapts from years past. If they have hoopers that will lead from the front, who knows where things finish up at the end of the day.

14U is another name out of this 2029 Class to watch out for. Michaelis is a CG with a diverse skill-set. She is a recruit that can put it on the floor, getting to her desired spots and she is also pretty thorough next to the basket, when those opportunities present themselves. Another thing that sets Michaelis apart from others is her movement off of the basketball. She doesn’t need possession to cut to the hoop, to screen away, or to rebound and she is a willing individual in all of those categories. Skutt is coming off of a State Title but they lose a lot of their production from years past, which will give younger prospects the opportunities to prove themselves early on in their careers. I’m not saying it’s a for sure thing but Michaelis might get a chance to step up to that level if she works hard enough over these next seven months.

is a skilled athlete, that is ahead of her time on the softball diamond. Michaelis, like in softball, is a hustler out on the basketball court with her keep it simple strategy. When prospects are young, they tend to over reach and try to do too much, too soon. Not in Michaelis’ case. She keeps things in front of her in real time, whether that be team or individual concepts, and she applies those things to her game to help her out. If you want to be the best version of yourself, you need to be a student of the game and I do believe that Michaelis is that. She just has to focus on the correct things and the rest could be history.
