Gonzalez has been on a tear this season. She’s been steadily climbing the ranks and Liemarie is hungry to prove even more. The fight, determination and will to win will carry her far.

Gonzalez showed up as an excellent play finisher from multiple levels for her squad this weekend. Getting to the line was no problem for her either. She also turned up the notch on the defensive intensity even though she was asked to be a consistent scorer. As stated before, Gonzalez is likely a rankings riser coming up. She’s been a buzzing name for some time.

Liemarie came into the season as a point guard to keep an eye on and she has completely exceeded expectations. Her ability to earn the trust of coaches and give valuable minutes as an 8th grade pg in NEPSAC play can’t overlooked. Going into AAU, she’s going to shine even brighter. She’s certainly a worthwhile watch.

It’s time to start discussing Gonzalez in a new light. She earned the respect of many in the championship game by showing a resilient fighting spirit as Wheeler fought underhanded. The team was short due to injury and sickness, but that was no excuse for her. Gonzelez went to war, leaving nothing behind. This demonstration of tenacity stood out amongst some great basketball played over the weekend.

Liemarie has made a statement this season. Coming into the year she was certainly a tad underrated. There wasn’t much known about her game, other than her diligent playstyle. However, after getting a chance to closely pay attention in recent play, its obvious this is someone who’s going to be a difference maker. Each time watching Gonzalez, she seems to be showing another improved trait.

A player showing she can bring a lot more to the table in her first year than originally anticipated. Over the last few games, Gonzalez’s confidence has been soaring. Liemarie was particularly striking in her most recent game vs Portsmouth Abbey. She was relentless in the hustle department and even knocked down some tough shots. It’ll be exciting to see what else Gonzalez can do this season.

Gonzalez was an easy choice for this conversation. She’s got a highly competitive spirit and a relentless attitude that helps accentuate her game. The development is seemingly happening at a faster rate than initially anticipated plus she’s looking more secured playing more meaningful minutes for Wheeler.

After watching her in a few of the early matchups, Gonzelez has been one of the more surprising prospects so far this season. She’s gotten her teammates involved, created for herself at critical points of the possession and shown a willingness to engage players defensively out on an “island”. Sometimes Liemarie is even hounding guards way beyond halfcourt as she disrupts players flow up the floor. Her overall numbers on both sides aren’t consistent just yet, but name an 8th grader that’s playing high-level basketball whose stats are? There’s no denying there’s a bright future here.

Gonzalez’s game is founded on hard work, but there’s so much more to her game. She has strong features that’re hard to miss. She’s a strong dribbler that remains low and pounces out of her triple threat. She uses a lot of misdirection dribbles to throw players off. As Liemarie gets a head of steam coming downhill, it’s tough for opposing players to stay attached. The shot making from Gonzalez has taken strides forward too. Defensively, the hustle as well as concentrated focus makes her a great asset. Wheeler has added a wonderful piece to the squad.

Gonzalez has showed over the summer she has what it takes to be a contributor at Wheeler when the season starts. She’s gritty, hungry to level up her game, willing to learn and applies said knowledge without hesitation. It’s clear why the coaches are excited about this young ’30 guard coming in. She’ll surely help to this up-and-coming squad.
