About Lily

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Lily is a 5'11" power forward who plays with a high motor and physical presence in the paint. She rebounds aggressively on both ends, runs the floor hard in transition, and finishes through contact around the rim. Defensively she can guard inside and step out onto the perimeter, and she’s a coachable, competitive freshman with a lot of upside as her face-up and midrange game continues to develop.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Lily is a mature, team-first kid with a great sense of humor who keeps things light while still taking her work seriously. She pushes herself to improve every day but rarely lets frustration affect her teammates, and she’s quick to encourage others. She has a playful, goofy side that makes her easy to be around and a fun presence in the locker room.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have received various artwork awards throughout elementary and junior high school, but I no longer take art classes as I am focusing on academics and basketball. I do still do art on the side on my own however.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I try to lead mostly with my attitude on the court. I don’t believe that showing my frustration helps a team, so I focus on encouraging my teammates, communicating, and playing hard every possession. I haven’t done a lot of formal community service, but often take care of little ones at family and team events, which has helped me be more patient, responsible, and others-focused.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Two challenges I’ve faced are playing up on a high school team in 8th grade and a negative team environment in 7th grade. Playing up forced me to adjust quickly, compete with players and earn respect through effort. My 7th-grade experience showed me how important team culture is and pushed me to be a teammate who includes others, encourages, and helps create a positive locker room.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college where the team culture is healthy and competitive—coaches and players who support each other but also push each other to get better. I want a strong basketball program that values player development and academics equally. My faith is also very important to me, so a place that respects that matters a lot.
