Expert Analysis
Brandyn Newbins | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Lydia serves as the team’s X-factor, confusing defenses with her ability to score at all three levels. Her mid-range game is particularly lethal, as she uses her length to rise above defenders and hit contested shots. On the defensive end, Lydia’s craftiness leads to steals and turnovers, creating extra opportunities for her team. Her well-rounded skill set and high basketball IQ make her a nightmare for opposing teams to handle.

Lydia is an extremely talented guard that has gotten better and better each year of her high school career. Air Academy finished last season 25-2 with a final 4 appearance and Flowers played a massive role in that success averaging 17 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds per game. She is a lights out shooter but does a good job of finding her open teammates when help arrives. Lydia’s great high school season in combination with a solid summer, playing for GRIT , earned her a scholarship to Regis University. While Flowers has a bright future at the college level, she has some unfinished business at Air Academy. Don’t be surprised to see the Kadets competing during that final weekend again.

Coming into her last summer of AAU the Regis commit went out with a bang, her GRIT 17U team was one of the best all-around teams in the state. With her being a key contributor on both ends of the floor. Using her speed and athleticism Lydia is able to defend multiple on the floor regardless of size. Something that she has become more willing to do. Which then has helped open her game offensively, her abilty to stop on a dime and pull up from 15-feet is what makes her so tough to guard. Defenders are forced to make a quick decision which usually happens too late.

Flowers was the other name to gather an offer from this event, a smart player at roughly 5’10. Dependable making the right reads in transition, she can handle it on the break or be deployed as a finisher versus multiple types of matchups. She showed a greater willingness of getting into mid-range shot attempts, either following off-ball movement or from the self-created look. Comfortable getting to her playmaking and scoring opportunities within the offensive flow, she rarely needs more than two dribbles to get to her spots within the halfcourt. Certainly one of the more diverse wings in the 2025 class, Flowers is a high floor division 2 level prospect.

Effective attacking closeouts and facilitating the halfcourt offense against pressure, Flowers has been excellent within her role for GRIT . She brings a high motor each and every possession, always a threat to crash the offensive glass for second chance opportunities. Her wide reach allows Flowers to defend 2s and 3s with ease, not an ideal matchup for opponents. Alongside her intangibles, she showed capabilities for this group, taking advantage of their array of offensive options.

One of the more well rounded forwards in the class, Flowers brings a diverse offensive impact. Among only two 4A 2025s averaging 18+ points per game, her improved efficiency beyond the arc has been instrumental to Air Academy’s 6-1 start to the season. Unique as a forward, Flowers is among the most productive passers, in part due to her refined handle gaining even more value while in tight spaces.
