Kuntz recently finished a contest with a season and game-high of 24 rebounds. That’s right, 24 rebounds. Not only do you have to have some size and intelligence to accomplish this feat. You also have to have a high motor with a lot of athletic ability to continue to keep this number at such a high rate throughout a 32 minute contest. Kuntz has been the driving force in the middle of her Wapello team over the past few years but this showing was next level in every definition of the phrase.

Another hooper that had a 20/10 double-double in the points-rebounds category on Monday night was 5’11 Center/Power Forward – Macey Kuntz Macey Kuntz 5'11" | PF/C Wapello | 2027 IA of Wapello High School. Wapello made slight work of their competition on Monday and a big reason for that was the dominance in the lane by Kuntz. She didn’t play much of the second half and she still finished with 25 points (12/22) and 14 rebounds. This outing put Kuntz’s worth to her team in perspective for a lot of outsiders. When she was in the middle doing her thing, they thrived. When she was taken off the floor, we can’t say the same so it’ll be interesting how teams adapt to that as we move forward in the season. As for now they sit at .500 with a 2-2 record but that will change a few more times prior to X-mas break so we will just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

Kuntz, a 5’11 force in the paint, demonstrated her entire arsenal last night against New London in their 2-point victory. She scored at a thorough rate near the lane, she rebounded on both sides of the ball, she got to the line consistently, and she led all of the others around her by example, even if she wasn’t touching the ball on a certain possession. Kuntz final stat line was 22 points (8-18) and 6 rebounds. With both programs having their main producers down-low in this battle, this truly was a solid performance by Kuntz. She put up awesome numbers and her team won, while being a leader. What more can you ask for out of someone that is only a sophomore?
