Half the game is played on defense. As a writer….that’s easy to focus on…and let’s face it….simply writing “she’s really good at defense” doesn’t get a lot of clicks. But, if you want the truth. It’s what college coaches care about! And Mackenna Nix has turned herself into a next level defender. She held a Power 5 kid to 4 points last night, and carried that momentum over into today. Battles on the glass. Creates extra possesions on the offensive glass. Hit a HUGE 3 with 5:00 left to extend ETAs lead to 13. When she’s hitting the 3….she really levels up with her potential to impact games at the college level on both sides of the ball.

Really can sit in a stance and guard for a kid her size. Battles on the glass and knows how to use her strength to punish you on the box out. Extremely nice right hand drive into a spin move with the finish in the 2nd half. Showed flashes but was being guarded by a tough matchup.

Mackenna Nix is another kid I’ve been hoping to see in person. On Twitter….she’s a dominant GA player. She’s a 5’11 positionless player that can do a bit of everything. She’s dangerous getting downhill in any situation. When she’s in transition I’ve watcher her take it straight to an opponents chest using her strength, Euro past defenders using her agility, or Barkley into a post up using her skill. She’s developed a 3 point shot, and defends a rebounds at a high level.
On Saturday vs BMaze Elite Orange, I thought she had a great game showing her diversity in skill set: 12 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks. With her athleticism and strength, her upside is HUGE!!

Mackenna Nix (Georgia) – she is our heart of the team. She’s a kid that’s ready to go to war with anyone, and her prepping for the game is where we share common goals! She’s always in the lab/weight room. I think her recruiting is a little underrated due to her size and strength! When I say she’s the heart! She’s the muscle that’s going to be physical every game!

Blossomed into a double-double machine, a relentlessly physical forward that does more than just bang now. Nix has improved her guard skills each and every season as she prepares to transition to more of a full-time wing. Concord, Rose-Hulman and UPike offered this summer.

Versatile and tough. Made a lot of strong drives to the hoop. Ability to finish over or through contact on both sides of the rim was impressive. Can extend all the way out to the perimeter offensively. Grabbed rebounds strong off of the rim and consistently crashed the boards.

Dominant breakout season as a double-double machine. Physical post presence that plucks rebounds at their highest point. Elite lower body strength. Good leaper. Is a threat to knock down threes and will use her power to get to the hoop on drives.
