About Mackenzie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my game as aggressive, hardworking, and versatile. I can handle the ball and run point guard, but I can also score inside and shoot from the outside. I take pride in my defense, rebounding, and hustling for every play. I always try to be a team player and do whatever helps my team win.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I would describe my mentality as coachable, positive, and hardworking. I always try to have good body language, encourage my teammates, and be someone others can count on. I like being pushed to get better, and I believe hard work and extra reps help you improve both on and off the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’ve been playing basketball for several years and have had the opportunity to play with different competitive teams in Lubbock, Texas. I spent the last three years with the Hub City Warriors in Lubbock, TX. I currently play for the Academy of Hoops (AOH) All-In team. Playing with different teams has helped me grow as a player, teammate, and leader.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed leadership by always giving maximum effort and doing the little things that help my team, like rebounding, hustling, and encouraging others. Playing on different teams has helped me learn teamwork, adaptability, and how to work well with different players and coaches. I also enjoy helping with youth basketball clinics in Lubbock and being a positive role model for younger players.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One challenge I’ve faced is playing against older and bigger players. It pushed me to rely on my ball handling, basketball IQ, hustle, and hard work to compete and continue improving.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that feels like family, challenges me to grow on and off the court, and has coaches and teammates who push each other to be great. I want a strong basketball program, good academics, and a positive environment where I can continue developing as a player and person.
