Expert Analysis

Burdis had an impressive last AAU weekend. She can get downhill and has no problem absorbing the contact. She was living at the free-throw line. She scored from all three levels while hitting a mid-range jumper and knocking down a few from behind the arc. She also worked hard on the offensive glass to give her team more scoring opportunities. Maddie worked hard on the defensive end of the floor and took a couple of steals coast to coast.

Burdis has been very solid and very impressive with the Mystics National team. She put together 2 very nice games in the National Championships. Burdis had a 25 point outburst in which she scored from multiple spots on the floor and looked very comfortable in her offensive positioning and shooting. She added another 13 point game for good measure.

#20 is a dynamic guard who has been a leader for Flushing’s basketball program and has slipped under the radar because she has not been on the travel circuit this spring. A few of her accolades at Flushing include: 3 year captain, 2x team MVP, 2nd Team All-League, 1st Team All-League, and Dream Team Honorable Mention. This summer I had the chance to watch her compete with Flushing at Summer League and immediately knew I was watching a next-level guard prospect. Maddie is a vocal communicator, a hard worker on both ends, has a high basketball IQ, is a great passer, downhill scorer, shooter, and TOUGH. She checks all the boxes of a college guard and will be fun to see against next-level competition this Sunday (MOI, Sports Medicine). Read more about Maddie

stock confirmed her value as a next-level prospect on Tuesday at Summer Heat. She is a GLUE player with the toughness, leadership, and unselfishness that every coach wants on their college team. Maddie scored many times in the paint off two including multiple and one baskets through fouls. She made a great left-handed entry pass, stole passes, blocked shots, scored floaters off the bounce, and knocked down mid-range shots off the dribble. Maddie has the skills and qualities of a next-level prospect.

Maddie might have been on a minutes restriction in returning from an injury, but she made the most of them against Ortonville. She helped break open a tight game with 11 points, in less than five minutes, to start the 2nd Half. On Friday, she started the game with three 3 pointers in the 1st Quarter. She has a microwave ability to heat up and can hit from all areas.

Burdis is a terrific shooter, but really can score at all 3 levels. She’ll be a player to watch this high school season.
