Mayfield looks really nice in her game vs Heritage, proving she could score from all three levels. She knocked down a huge three in the 3rd quarter to push the McMinn Central lead to 11. When Mayfield can be the 3rd scorer (behind Masingale and Bystry), this Central team becomes incredibly hard to beat.

Mayfield finished with 10 big points, and Central needed every one of them. Mayfield is perhaps Central’s most important defender in their press, and defensively Mayfield was everywhere on both ends of the ball tonight. I still say Mayfield could be a college basketball player if she wanted–but she’s busy winning state championships in track.

Maddox was one of the best athletes on the court, and made an impact with her speed and strength. She shines in these up-tempo games as she’s tremendous out in the open floor. Game changing on the ball defender. I thought she gave Brewer some problems at times.

I’m convinced Mayfield could be a college basketball player if she wasn’t merely a state champion sprinter in her free time. Maddox got loose in this track meet and had numerous buckets.
