Maddy is an elite prospect from Grosse Pointe South who has a variety of offensive skills that few high school guards possess. She created space with a combination of jabs, crossovers, and step back dribbles to produce offense against an athletic opponent. Maddy has a burst on her drives and scored a contested shot from a tough angle off the glass. Her length, advanced ball handling, quickness, and ability to score at all three levels made her a top guard at the SS16 Shootout today.

Benard has been making waves all season and Wednesday was no different. She finished with 26 points in a tight GPS win. It wasn’t just the points though. It was the big plays down the stretch in winning time. Benard hit big free throws and came up with huge defensive plays to secure the victory.

Benard’s team may have been defeated by Dakota, but she certainly left her mark in the contest. She has a reputation as a shooter and that certainly held true in this game, as she hit multiple triples that showed off her deep shooting range. Benard was a threat all over the floor though, utilizing her ability to create space with her handles. She used a tough step back jumper from mid range that was very tough to defend. Benard also drew contact and got to the free throw line often. All this talk about her scoring, but it was her passing that may have impressed me the most. She creatively passed out of traps, hit cutters with accurate feeds and showed the ability to feed the post with a bounce pass.

Benard is a terrific talent and this video shows some reasons why. We can see a very diverse offensive ga,e. First of all, we witness the DEEP range she has on her jumper. But we also see her rock and sway her defenders with her handles, consistently creating space for her to attack or fire off a jumper. Benard is so smooth when finishing at the rim.

Benard is turning a ton of heads with her outstanding play this season. She’s electric offensively with one of the purest jumpers in the state in my opinion. Benard can the confidence and ability to shoot and score from basically anywhere.
