Austin made her way into the top 10 quickly, and while the amount of offers she received held weight, it was how quickly she developed her game that stood out the most. Her decision to stay close to home should provide her the opportunity to develop at an even higher rate. She’s impactful on both sides of the floor, and being a true 6’3/6’4, she should be able to translate quickly.

Austin falls under the radar for most because of where she’s located, and the competition isn’t as steep there. But if you’ve had the chance to see her in person over the summer, you’d know that, regardless of location and competition, Austin is a walking double-double, and on the defensive end, she can cover the entire paint.

There have been a few dominant bigs over the past couple of classes, but Austin might be towards the top of that. The film and the eye test don’t lie. This kid has something special to her, and a motor that doesn’t quit. On both ends of the floor, she shows hustle and heart, and bigs tend to lose that at the next level. I don’t think Madison will. She can score the ball from various spots on the court, defend the paint, and feel comfortable running out to the perimeter. She’s one of those players who might have an even better career in college.

Austin has been the clear-cut stock riser this summer, in my opinion. The size is God-given, but her skill set is still being finely tuned. Her impact is evident on both sides of the ball. Offensively, she can play multiple roles in various sets and positions. She dominates in the paint and on the low block, with the added ability to stretch the floor beyond the arc. Defensively, she’s a presence in the paint with high hands and a strong base. Reliable on the boards, she rarely finds herself in foul trouble. Austin shows a ton of potential.

True rim runners these days are hard to come by, especially post players who enjoy playing on the low block and being dominant in that area. Austin is fairly new to organized basketball, but her athleticism and size has helped her stock rised. Over this past weekend at the Windy City Warm Up, I caught a game of hers and you can tell she’s a year or two away from being a go to post presence. Shes mobile, aware, and knows when to be strong and when to play with grace.

Madison has great length and a player who established position well. Catch and scored at the rim. A player who moves well around the paint. Can block and alter shots with her size and defensive presence. Able to create space. Not afraid of the physical game.
