Schmitz delivered one of the strongest individual performances of the round. She finished with 28 points and 15 rebounds, controlling both scoring and the glass. Her ability to stretch the defense from the perimeter while still rebounding like a forward created matchup problems all night. When a guard posts numbers like that in the state tournament, it changes the tone of a game.

She’s an excellent scoring guard who attacks quickly off the catch, makes quick decisions with the rock, and has a pure stroke that extends beyond the 3-point line. Schmitz also excels on the break and attacking early in transition when she can find gaps, and does a great job timing up her passes to ensure open looks for teammates. She’s really strong with the rock on her attacks too, and can rack up trips to the foul line.

The League MVP, Schmitz was nearly unstoppable all season. An elite shooter with deep range and incredible balance, she consistently found ways to create space — using step-backs, hesitations, and quick changes of direction to get her shot off against any defender. Beyond her scoring, Schmitz was a smart, creative passer who kept her teammates involved and elevated the entire offense. Defensively, her anticipation and awareness made her disruptive on the perimeter. A smooth finisher around the rim with both hands, Schmitz is the total package — a poised, high-IQ guard who controls every aspect of the game.

A nice guard who should take over the point guard role next season full time as she shared that duty last year. She is deceptively quick when she gets downhill, a bit of which comes from her skills and game smarts. She has the ability to to become a great shooter and already is a good one from three. She has a lot of creative flow to her game, which again speaks to the countless hours of working on and watching the game. She is fun to watch, another one that plays the game the way you would like to see.

Maggie plays well beyond her years. She has a whole bag of tricks to go along with the skills. She has a knack for getting to the basket and setting up the defense. She shoots the pull-up jumper from anywhere. She gets herself to the free throw line. Drawing fouls is a skill and she has it. She shared point guard duties in her freshman season last year but should have the ball in her hands as much as possible next season. She is a crafty player that you know has spent countless hours in the gym. Her shooting range is also legit. She’ll bury them if she gets daylight. Another skill she has. She helped White River to a 4th place finish at the state tournament.

The White River point guard exhibits a great feel for running the offense and distributing the rock. She can run the break to perfection, looks really comfortable pushing the ball or playing in the half court, and can stretch the floor from behind the arc. Schmitz shows good reactions and instincts and is definitely a player to watch this AAU season.
