Maiah Murphy Maiah Murphy 5'4" | PG GVC | 2026 State IA is a hooper we have mentioned a few times over the past six months because of her play on the AAU floor on the road. Murphy, a 5’4 PG, is a fun one to watch. She plays off of two feet while attacking, she knows how to move into favorable positions as she attacks the teeth of the defense for an easy look for herself or an assist for another, and she is not afraid to try to compete against anyone that might be bigger than her. You could say that she plays with a lot of confidence and a lot of energy, which is contagious to her teammates. When talking about the best guards that this Conference has to offer and Murphy is in that conversation. She plays a solid, well rounded game and that game could play at the next level one day if given the opportunity.

Maiah Murphy Maiah Murphy 5'4" | PG GVC | 2026 State IA was someone who came onto our radar a few months ago with her Kingdom Hoops program. Murphy is an explosive guard with a lot of energy. She would be considered someone that is always willing to play aggressively but in-control. She is calculated and tactful, which helps her make everyone else around her better. She can handle and control pace, two things that really stand out. I am hoping that Murphy puts together a big Senior season at GVC. If she plays her game, she will be someone we hear more about as we move in 2026.

I’ve learned more and more about Mariah Murphy over the past twelve months and I can say that she is a solid prospect, that isn’t going to hurt you when she is out on the court. Being on the court is a lot about trust. Can a coach trust you? A coach can trust Murphy to make the right choice when the ball is in her hands, no matter the given situation. She is someone at the PG spot that thrives under pressure and someone that really controls the tempo of a game throughout. Coming off of her best high school season to date, Murphy will look to build on what she has set in place the past two seasons. A task I’m sure she will have some success with moving forward.

Maiah Murphy Maiah Murphy 5'4" | PG GVC | 2026 State IA of Grandview Christian High School has been a prospect that I have seen a lot about online the past few months and after seeing her in person to end the AAU season, I can confidently say that she is a solid prospect with some promise to play at the next level, if she so chooses. Murphy might only by 5’4 but she makes up for that size with her tenacious defense, thorough handle, quick decision making skills, and her vision in the full court. From the looks of it, no matter who Murphy is competing against, she is always a factor on both sides of the ball for her team and that says something. It says that she is always up for the challenge and ready to go. This Winter, I expect Murphy to standout for her GVC team once again. If it’s like anything in years past, she is going to be just fine.
