About Maisie

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I volunteer for the "Police Lights of Christmas" program, and help coach basketball and volleyball for younger girls. I play high school volleyball and softball, as well as basketball. I earned WBCA All-State Academic Honors, and WFPCA All-State Academic Honors. I also recently received the "PSAT Distinguished Student Award," for being in the top 5% of the nation in testing.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I've learned how to lead, throughout the years, by watching my coaches and team captains. I am currently the team captain on my volleyball team, and a team lead/coach for the "Empow-her-ment" Program offered at The Driveway, a basketball training facility.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I was blessed to earn spots on the varsity basketball and softball teams, as a freshman last year. I learned quickly, that not everyone is happy about these accomplishments. I have learned to read the room, and adjust to various personalities, while balancing my desire to play my best for the team. I've learned to be stronger mentally, and kind to everyone, despite not being treated the same.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm really looking for quality academics and a positive team culture, first. I believe I would do better in a small to medium campus size. However, as I spend this year getting deeper into my recruiting journey, I hope to learn more, and figure out where I would fit best. I don't want to limit myself at this time.

The Notre Dame wing split time with the Tritons JV and Varsity team this season and stepped into roles when needed on Varsity. Her season was stop-and-go the whole way through, but she played minutes in games that mattered, like Bay Port on the road and Kimberly and Providence Academy at their gym. Hinz has the trust of Coach Rhode, or she wouldn’t have seen the floor in those games, let alone the minutes that mattered in those games. She’s a physical kid who has shown flashes of potential and should have some confidence heading into the AAU season.
