Coming so close to achieving their ultimate goal, she helped lead Astoria to a second-place finish in the state. She was one of the leading scorers, averaging 13.7 points per game on an impressive 47% shooting, including 38% from beyond the arc. The Moda Health player of the game in Astoria’s opening two rounds of the tournament, Young had 18 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block in the opening game against Stayton, and she had 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in the semifinal win over Cascade. In her four years at Astoria, the Fishermen have had some of the most success in the history of their program and Young’s play and leadership will be dearly missed.
