About Makayla

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I strive for success and believe that strong team chemistry and a relentless work ethic are what create a winning team. Statistics are not what motivate me. Working hard, making the right plays, and creating the best opportunities for my teammates is what allows a team to truly come together. I take pride in playing aggressive, disciplined defense to give my team more possessions and more chances

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I believe in giving 110% in everything I do. The harder I work, the better I become. I practice three times a day to make sure I am fully prepared to help my team win. I enjoy the game of basketball the most when I am playing at a high level and pushing myself to be the best teammate I can be.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in student council at my high school. I also teach and volunteer at my local church.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through my leadership roles and community volunteer experiences, I have learned that kindness, empathy, and encouragement can make a lasting impact—especially for those who need guidance and support. I strive to see the good in others and help bring out their best. Whether in the classroom, in the community, or on the court, I take pride in supporting others and contributing to their growth.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Some of the challenges I faced were jealousy and school drama. I tried not to let it bother me and instead looked past the situation so I could keep moving forward. I viewed it as a challenge that helped me grow and better understand the feelings of others. It helped me become kinder and appreciate everyone more.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that values both academics and athletics, where I can receive a strong education that prepares me for my future while also being part of a competitive basketball program. I want to be in an environment with a coaching staff that pushes players to improve every day, holds them accountable, and emphasizes hard work, discipline, and teamwork.
