If there is a headliner on this list, it’s Makayla Schroeder Makayla Schroeder 6'0" | PF Henley | 2028 State OR . The Henley standout was a First-Team All-State selection as a sophomore in 2025-26, and watching her play makes it easy to understand why. Schroeder brings something you simply don’t see as much of in today’s game: a true, highly skilled post game.
Makayla has an answer for just about everything on the block. Her footwork is impeccable, and she consistently uses counters to keep defenders guessing. She can keep a defender on her back, square up and finish, or pin and seal her defender before receiving a well-placed entry pass from her Henley teammates. Once she gets the ball inside, she is extremely difficult to stop.
What makes Schroeder even more difficult to defend is that she isn’t limited to the paint. She runs the floor well in transition and can finish on the move, while also showing the ability to pull up for jumpers inside the paint. She is a relentless presence on the offensive glass and has the strength and skill to score even when two or three defenders collapse around her.
And if you foul her? That can be just as problematic. Schroeder is an aggressive scorer who gets to the free-throw line and consistently capitalizes on those opportunities.
Her production speaks for itself. As a freshman, she put up 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 steals against Yreka. In the state tournament, she dominated the first-round win over Scappoose with 27 points and 19 rebounds, then followed it up with 29 points in the third-place game victory over Baker.
Schroeder is clearly Henley’s go-to scorer, but what stands out most is how many different ways she can hurt a defense. She has the footwork, touch, strength, rebounding ability and basketball instincts to control a game from the interior. In an era where traditional post play has become less common, Makayla Schroeder Makayla Schroeder 6'0" | PF Henley | 2028 State OR is a reminder of just how difficult an elite back-to-the-basket scorer can be to defend.

In Henley’s first-round playoff game against Scappoose, Schroeder showed why she is the biggest double-double threat in the 4A classification. She scored 20 and pulled down 13 rebounds in the first half (!), finishing with 27 and 19 en route to a 40-point win. That paved the way for her to make another strong showing in Forest Grove, leading the Hornets to a third-place finish at state. She obviously has the size advantage over many, but she earns her rebounds with hustle, heart, and IQ more than anything else. Henley is just plain fun to watch — blistering pace, plenty of shooters and smart spacing, all surrounding a tenacious interior scorer in Schroeder. She has a plus vertical that allows her to catch the ball on the block and rise up for an unblockable turnaround shot in a quick, fluid motion. I noticed how level-headed she was despite her physical play style; she rarely gets sped up.

Henley freshman Makayla Schroeder Makayla Schroeder 6'0" | PF Henley | 2028 State OR is a force on the offensive glass and consistently gets the putback points. Schroeder is excellent at boxing out and getting the inside position to win the rebound on both ends. She is strong in the paint, helping on defense and protecting the rim. She cuts off the driving lane to the basket and contests and blocks close-range shot attempts with arms straight up. Schroeder gets a lot of looks at the rim — running the court, in the half-court sets, and on the boards.
