About Makenley

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

A 5’4 shooting guard who’s a reliable catch-and-shoot scorer, can attack the rim off the dribble, and is versatile enough to play multiple positions. Defensively, a controlled, but slower tempo.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Coachable and team-focused with a strong work ethic and growth mindset. I stay composed, play within the system, and focus on improving every time I step on the floor while building confidence through effort and doing the little things right.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Participate in club basketball through Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) while also receiving multiple academic honors, including Honor Roll recognition, for strong classroom performance, work ethic, and commitment to balancing athletics and academics.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through academics and playing AAU basketball, I’ve developed strong time management, discipline, teamwork, and accountability. Balancing school and athletics has taught me how to stay organized, communicate effectively, handle pressure, and maintain a consistent work ethic while continuing to grow both on and off the court.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

A significant challenge I’ve faced was spraining both ankles, which tested my resilience and patience. I stayed focused on recovery and improving my game, using the setback as motivation to come back stronger, smarter, and more determined on and off the court.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that values both academics and basketball, with a supportive program focused on player development and a team-first culture. Ideally, it offers strong academic opportunities and a community where I can grow on and off the court while balancing school and athletics.
