About Makenzie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I lead my team as the primary ballhandler and offensive catalyst, creating scoring opportunities for both myself and my teammates at all levels.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My approach to athletics and life is grounded in the belief that I am my own greatest competition and fully responsible for my actions. I bring an outgoing, positive, and forward-thinking attitude to everything I do, viewing each day as a new opportunity to improve and outperform the person I was yesterday.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Student Council 11th Grade President, a member of the Senior Beta Club, National Society of High School Scholars, Journalists for Plaquemines Parish Gazette, and Student Advisory Group for Plaquemines Parish School Board.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

This past season I was thrusted into a leadership roleas a Sophmore team captain, in which I had to navigate my personal athletic development while attempting to assist in elevating the young talent around me.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Balancing four varsity sports with a rigorous academic schedule, including dual enrollment classes as a sophomore, has been my greatest challenge. Maintaining high academic and athletic performance required discipline and time management. Juggling these responsibilities taught me how to prioritize, stay focused under pressure, and persevere through challenges.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a school that values both academic and athletic growth. I want an environment where I can challenge myself in the classroom while continuing to develop as an athlete, with coaches and teachers who support my goals. A school with a strong sense of community, opportunities for leadership, and resources to balance academics, sports, and personal growth.
