About Maliya
Expert Analysis
Jim Dabbelt | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
She is a solid post player with good footwork around the rim. Stays with the play but in the first half needed to be stronger on the finish at times. Does a good job defensive rebounding. Second half was much better! Smooth touch on her midrange! In the game I saw, she dropped 25/15 for a dominant double-double!

Maliya is actually a 2025 who is getting one last run in this Spring in hopes of drawing additional interest in basketball. She is a big, strong, physical front-liner who works incredibly hard. She is deceptively athletic, she fights for position inside, but she also seems very coachable and doesn’t seem to make the same mistakes twice. Maliya is also a talented volleyball player and is potentially looking to play both sports at the next level.

Maliya is probably the least known of this “starting five”, and she is a bit under the radar in terms of recruiting, but she has talent. She isn’t a big grassroots kid because she is a good volleyball player as well. She is strong, physical, and plays with a really nice motor. She runs the floor well, can finish in transition, plus her back-to-the-basket game has improved from year to year. She was at Clay last year, but Clay closed, so she’s at John Adams now. In 2023-2024 she averaged 11.6 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.8 blocked shots per game.
