The Cloud County Community College commit wrapped up her monsterous senior season with a 1A Division I state tournament appearance. Put up 1,000 points in her career. The three-time Central Plains League first teamer also blew away the doubters in being selected to KBCA, KSHSAA and SIK first teams as well. A fierce, high motor floor leader who as effective from the perimeter as she is finishing at the hole. She is also a consistent, physical defender who runs the floor smartly.

A member of the last Oiler state championship team she is strong with the ball and a consistent, athletic multi-level scorer. Soeken holds a half dozen JUCO offers from several states. In 2024 she received Sports In Kansas 1A D I second team, KSHSAACovered third team and KBCA honorable mention selections.

Marilyn is dangerous in transition, getting downhill quickly and attacking the rim with purpose. When left open, she can knock down jumpers with ease, stretching defenses beyond the three-point line. On top of that, she showed off her versatility with solid post moves, making her a dual threat in both the open court and half-court sets.

An exciting guard to watch as she plays the game with such a passion. List as a combo guard but attacks the rim with the quickness and aggression as a point. A nice little hesi dribble off the wing going right or left fitted perfect with the dribble drive motion offense. What I really liked was she got her shoulders turned down hill when she decided to go. If the defender backs off to stop the drive she will definitely knock down a 3 on you.
Defensively she knows one way and that is go hard! She took a charge on a fast break in a summer tournament meaning when she steps in between the lines it is GO TIME!
I enjoy watching a kid that plays hard no matter what the score is nor who it is against. Marilyn is that type of player.

Soeken heads into her senior year as the top ranked 1A Division I player in the class. This past season she was named first team Central Plains League, second team Sports In Kansas, KSHSAA third team and KBCA honorable mention. Also suiting up for KS Dream Team the summer, Soeken has long been a player who is known for putting pressure on opponents on both ends of the floor. Strong off the dribble and a confident three point shooter Soeken is a athletic, creative three level scorer. A true floor leader she makes good decisions and seizes opportunities to make the big shot. Soeken recently picked up an offer from Seward Community College.

Central Plains reached the state tournament in 2023 despite only being the third seed in their sub-state. Soeken looks to drive the team past a one-and-done this time. The Central Plains League second team and Varsity Kansas honorable mention selection is active on the glass, works well in space, and gets to the hole quickly off the bounce. She has also improved over the summer as a clutch perimeter shooter. With her improved three point shot expect Soeken’s game attract serious attention. Watch out on the defensive end as well. Quick hands, transition speed off the steal, and a strong rebounder.
