About Maritza

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I give good passes to my teammates on a fast break or help them get open. I’m the type of person that will encourage my teammates to shoot when I get them open. I have a good vision on the court when I’m bringing the ball up and see what I can do.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentally and personally is good, I like to push my teammates to the best and encourage them to do the hard challenges including myself especially coming back from my knee injery

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am on a AAU team called fox valley force, I have played with force for 2 years and I love the coaching style. I have been on other AAU teams called Midwest wildcats, limitless, and Kessle. Force is a great program that pushes you to your best.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve been a good role model to my teammates at Mchenry high school, I’ve coached my sister and her teammates for 3 on 3 tournaments. I help out my community at the township and help the people in need.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have faced an ACL injury, I am now coming back from that injury and continuing to work hard to get back to 100%. I am getting a couple minutes playing and I’m greatful I can finally play the sport I love most.

What type of college are you looking for?

A college I am looking for is Iowa. It’s a beautiful place there and the basketball team has a lot of incredible history and I would love to play there one day.
