About Mattielynne

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My basketball gameplay style as team-oriented, focused on smart passing, solid defense, and looking for high-percentage shots. I prioritize making good decisions, moving without the ball, and contributing on both ends of the court. My approach is less about flashy plays and more about consistency, hustle, and supporting my team. I have the ability to score at all three levels with confidence.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’d describe my mentality as competitive, resilient, and positive. I approach challenges with determination and a growth mindset, always looking to learn and improve. I value teamwork and encouragement, believing that supporting others makes everyone stronger. I stay composed under pressure and focus on giving my best effort in any situation.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I hold leadership positions in both the Student Athletic Leadership Council and the Mentorship program. My commitment is to empower other students and strengthen our community through active involvement. I was taught at a young age to always leave a place better than when I arrived. I have carried that mindset through school, and I hope to leave Lincoln Prep in a better state than when I arrived.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Over the past few years, I have focused on developing several key skills and qualities, including leadership, teamwork, and a commitment to community service. Through group projects and extracurricular activities, I have learned how to communicate effectively, delegate tasks, and motivate others to work toward a common goal. Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I often struggled with certain subjects, especially math. Even after putting in extra hours, I still found some concepts hard to grasp. This was frustrating and sometimes shook my confidence in my abilities. To overcome this, I sought help from teachers. I attended extra tutoring and formed study groups. I tried various study methods, used visual aids, and broke topics into small parts.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that offers a strong biology program, as I want to build a solid foundation for my future career. I also want to attend a school with an active student body and a variety of extracurricular activities, so I can get involved on campus and connect with other students who share my interests. I am looking to grow both academically and personally.
