Playing for Always 100 3SSB, Maya was a force all weekend. The Northern Kentucky commit showed her stuff at both ends of the court. She was a force defensively using great anticipation and active hands to get turnovers in the Always 100 3SSB half court trap. She has great length and plays a smooth game finishing inside and out and facilitating her team. Playing with only 6, Maya was a big reason her team was playing in the championship on ESPN where they came up just short against Mac Irvin Fire.

Maya is a Division I Northern Kentucky University commit, and she showed her worth for Lafayette Jeff Friday. She has really nice length, some speed & quickness, but it’s her smoothness that stands out. Over the years, she has done a nice job of making her jump-shot more consistent, plus she has been a much more urgent on-ball defender. She is creative off the dribble, plus she does a nice job of balancing scoring with distributing.

Maya moves over to Lafayette Jeff this season after posting 1105 points in two years at Faith Christian. She is a long, wiry, quick, fast, and athletic guard who has drawn multiple Division-I offers. Over the years, she has improved her perimeter shooting and her range, plus she’s finishing through contact better around the rim. Defensively, she has such great length and quick feet, that she is always getting her hands on passes. Maya will be playing a much tougher schedule this Winter, but I still expect for her to be an elite playmaker.

Maya is an extremely long, wiry, smooth, and fluid athlete who plays with speed an intensity at all times. She utilized those tools to make Class 1A Faith Christian highly competitive the last couple of seasons, but now she heads to the Class 4A Bronchos where she should make her mark early and often. Maya has always been an aggressive scorer, but she is shooting it much better outside, she can run offense and facilitate as well, plus she has been a high-level defender who can really cause havoc when defending the basketball.

Maya is one of the longest guards in the state, and combined with her quickness and bounce, it helps her deflect/steal passes and block shots at a high level for a guard. She can recover and make up a lot of ground defensively, as well. Offensively, she shot it fairly well from the perimeter when I saw her yesterday, and from different spots on the floor. She still will need to build some core strength, especially when she wants to get through the lane better, but she has a lot of other traits to really like.
