An experienced player and part of a veteran group that refuses to lose. Makes her presence felt on nearly every possession. Plays with the kind of toughness that sets the tone for the whole team.

O’Brien is a senior leader for a good Washington team. Mazzy is a three level scorer that will find a way to get a bucket anywhere. She always plays hard, and runs the court very well. O’Brien is one of those players who always seems to be in the right place. Washington will look for another big night from her in this one.

Washington is in line to possibly take home the 3A state title, and behind this season’s success is a group effort, but Mazzy stands out. If a big play needs to be made, you can definitely count on her to pull through, and if someone has to take the big shot, she won’t hesitate to be that player. She notched 1k points earlier this month, and she is nowhere near done adding to that total.

Defense is the side of the ball that Mazzy seems to lock in on, but offensively is where her potential takes another leap. She covers a lot of ground on the drive, and can score from multiple levels. O’Brien has a good amount of talent that goes well with a high IQ.

Mazzy’s need to stay active and aware puts her in positions to make an impact in almost every possession. Defensively she’s alert on rotations, she’s willing to guard who ever and her instincts to blow up lanes, skip passes or lazy passes are evident. On the opposite side of the ball, you can see her skillset starting to form. Can get to the rim, while also being able to knock down the long ball.
