makes nice cuts in the paint losing her defender and getting to the opening. She battles for every loose ball, and she goes up strong for rebounds. She was tough on the block using her quick feet to score some points in the paint. Her court vision was apparent hitting her teammates from the top of the key as they cut to the basket.
I came away very impressed with Green after this game, even in defeat. She has very good size and length, above average athleticism, and what looked like a pretty good understanding of how best to use those attributes. She finished the game with nine points and seven rebounds while dealing with foul trouble. She has very good anticipation of when and where the ball is going to come off the rim on offense and was able to gather a few misses and convert easy put backs. Green looked to have soft hands and smooth touch around the basket, but Kell had a very difficult time penetrating the Marist zone with the dribble or pass limiting her opportunities to score. She has a lot of physical gifts and potential heading into her final AAU and HS season. What she does with those remains to be seen, but she is a player who could impact a team on the next level in two years.
Another eye-popping athlete, Green added 9 points, 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 3 blocks. She knocked down a pair of mid-range jumpers, scored on a putback and had an And-1. Green has terrific length. She was comfortable catching and surveying the defense from the high post. Her wingspan made it difficult for Jones County to score in the paint.
Passes the eye-test as a next level big. Howard has offered. Long and strong. Very athletic, capable of playing the full 94-feet. Blocks shots and steals passes. Rebounds for putbacks. Uses her nimble feet to spin off defenders. Outside shot is a growing weapon.
McKenzie brings a big, strong frame and plays with physicality around the basket. She did a nice job getting to two feet and finishing with power, and her midrange jumper is tough to contest thanks to a high release. She also impacted the game defensively by blocking shots and rebounding hard, and showed touch and footwork with a nice spin move in the paint. An underrated part of her game is her passing and how she can get downhill then find her teammates for better looks.
Green has one of the smoothest mid-range shots that I saw on the day. A player that gets out in transition and runs rim to rim. When she catches on the block, she knows how to power it up and score through the contact.
