Player Bio
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
People compliment my shooting form & consistency in making 3s & FTs. I'm small, but I'm relentless on defense & don't shy away from the paint or big players. I got varsity playing time as an 8th grader & a defense award from team captains. On offense, I'll go left or right. If left open, I'll drop a 3, drive the paint, or float a mid-level. I want to be a player my team & coach trusts.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I'm on the quiet side until you know me. I work hard & try to train 6 days a week so I can become an elite shooter, relentless defender & solid playmaker. People compliment how hard & long I'll work & I don't complain. They say I'm very sweet, nice & encouraging until I defend them. I'm working on self-advocacy & leadership because my nature has been to follow & to go along, to get along.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
I volunteer at my club's summer camps for at risk youth. It provides 2 meals & teaches different sports. The little kids really like me & say I'm fun. I also volunteer at my local basketball association helping teach young kids how to play basketball. I'm also learning American Sign Language so I can help interpret when people can't hear.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I got serious about basketball later than others so I learned to be a good teammate from the bench. My varsity coach said we did a great job bringing energy so our starters played better & won close games. Because I'm a really good shooter, I learned to come off the bench in close games to get fouled & make clutch free throws. One time, I only played at the very end so I could get fouled & make FT
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
When I was younger, I was diagnosed with a disability and my mom was told that I'd never be able to be successful in basketball. But I have good trainers who believe in me and my mom who works very hard so I can be as good as I can be. Some call me a late bloomer but I've just had to work harder and my grandma says my best days are ahead of me.
What type of college are you looking for?
Not sure yet but I'm going to start exploring what might be the best fit for me to contribute and be successful
