She’s a quick, dynamic guard who thrives on fundamentals and knows how to push the pace in transition. Playing to her strengths, she consistently gets into the paint, creating opportunities for open teammates. King had a great freshman year last season, being named 2nd team all conference and has been playing fantastic this season. She plays with a high IQ, being able to pick apart defenses and attack the ball at a high level. She can shoot it well from deep too, keeping defenders on their toes at all times.

Few freshmen have the poise and confidence King displayed this season. Named to the Second Team All-League, she showed herself to be a smart, versatile guard with a quick release from deep. She knew when to attack as a scorer and when to distribute, acting as a connective piece for Columbia River’s offense. On defense, she used her quickness to keep opposing guards in check. King’s ability to step into a big role right away bodes well for both her future and Columbia River’s success in the coming years.

Here is a player who has been showing a lot of improvement this summer. She has been making her game more well rounded on the offensive side of the ball, staying a threat on the wing to attack the ball or let it fly from deep. Her defensive instincts are impactful, as she creates turnovers for her team. 

Mikayla King from Columbia River High School is a standout talent this summer for all of her hard work during the offseason. She’s been shining at tournaments as a strong shooter. One tournament in particular, she played on an all-boys AAU team in Battleground, Washington.

As a hard-working athlete, Mikayla has been involved in many summer camps. University of Portland Team Camp and the University of Oregon Elite Camp were where she excelled the most.

Mikayla has been determined to improve and get better in the off-season. Her goals this summer were to improve her confidence on the court and become a stronger offensive threat.

Mikayla hopes to create a name for herself in her community. This season, she aims to be a leader in lifting her team up and motivating them to succeed. Her dreams and aspirations for the future are to make it to a Division 1 college. She values the WNBA as a motivating force behind her basketball pursuits. Watch out for this rising star; she is sure to make it rain buckets in the Northwest.

The Columbia River freshman (2028) has great ball-handling and passing skills and has been a consistent role player for her grassroots team at the local HoopSource tournaments this spring. King has the ability to bring the ball up and get her team into its offense. She has a quick first step and can hit the pull-up three. She pushes the pace and finds the assist. She runs the court and can score in transition. King works hard on defense and can guard the perimeter. She’s a smart player and was named second-team all-league in her high school freshman season.
