Don’t count out Mariam Samuelson of Omaha Duchesne. Samuelson, a 5’8 SG, showed up last Winter at Duchesne and demonstrated that she can help with the programs success for the next few years to come. Samuelson isn’t the type to shock you with any crazy moves on the court. Instead, she takes when the defense gives her and she converts at a pretty respectable rate before of that. If they allow her to shoot an open look from deep, she can. If they want her to drive to the bucket for a finish through contact, she can. So it’s really up to the defense in front of her to decide what she is going to do. We saw that a few times at this event and it turned into Samuelson making some smart plays overall.
