Verrett moves very quickly laterally not allowing opposing guards to get by. Was one of the top defensive performers of the day here at McKale Center. She is a ferocious on ball defender. Has great speed she uses to get by the defense especially on fast breaks. Crashes the boards with purpose and rebounds well for her position. She has incredible speed. She was scoring very well in transition. Came up with quite a few steals that she took and scored the other way. Has a great handle and a strong motor.

Verretts stock rose tremendously at this event. Arguably the top two way guard at the event. Defensively Verrett was a menace. Wouldn’t be surprised if she led the event (for boys and girls) in forced turnovers. She was able to score at will on the offensive end. Moved really well with and without the ball and was dangerous in transition. Verrett is primed for a strong senior season and showed she’ll be a force this season.

Monica Verrett Monica Verrett 5'5" | CG Amphi | 2026 State AZ is one of the most intriguing prospects in Arizona. She is an incredible athlete as she is a multi-state placer in the Long Jump. She is a lightning quick point guard that can beat most guards down the floor with the ball and create opportunities in fast break situations. She is a very good shooter and passer. She has a high basketball IQ and she is a leader on the floor. Her specialty is defense, as she is the Region Defensive Player of the Year. She can shut down point guards and create several turnovers because of her speed and quickness. Look for Monica’s stock to rise as Amphi could have one of their best seasons in several years in 2025/26.

Verrett was one of if not the top guard in attendance. Very strong defensively and has the heart to matchup with anyone. Great handles and a very quick step that helps her blow by defenders. A gifted scorer through contact. Spaced the floor very well and allows the offense to develope. Althought she played with a pass first mentality Verrett showed she needs to be respected as a scorer. She can shoot the three ball very well and has a great mid range pull up. Very high level passer. A dual sport athlete (track and basketball) who will excel at the next level in either or both.

Monica Verrett Monica Verrett 5'5" | CG Amphi | 2026 State AZ is a multi-sport athlete that is now starting to emerge as one of the top players in Southern Arizona. She earned 4A Gila Region Defensive player of the Year last season, and she continues to improve her offensive game. Her speed can be overwhelming for players that try to cover her, but it is her amazing quickness and athleticism that can be overwhelming. I see her as a combo guard on the next level that if she continues to develop can be an absolute diamond in the rough for a college that picks her up. This summer she will be playing in the Nike TOC Live event in Las Vegas on July 11th-14th.

Monica Verrett Monica Verrett 5'5" | CG Amphi | 2026 State AZ is one of the fastest players with or without the ball in Southern Arizona. She is a lock-down defender that can guard the point or the shooting guard, and she averaged almost 6 steals a game which most of the time turned into points. She is a solid shooter and passer, and makes good decisions with the basketball. She is a very coachable athlete that has high character and excels in academics as well. She is a multi-sport athlete that in my opinion will play basketball on the next level most likely at point guard.

She is a terrific defender that can move laterally as good as any High School player that I’ve seen. She also can score the ball with drives to the basket and mid range jump shots. She is very fast which makes her dangerous in the open floor. A really fun player to watch.
