Hayes got after it over the weekend. She helped lead her team to a 5-0 record with her precise playmaking, quick adjustments and constant energy. If she keeps this level of play up, she could very well climb a few spots in her class ranks.

A quick and shifty Hayes is one of the premier players within the freshman class. She’s exceptionally reliable and heavily depended on to create. Hayes uses misdirection dribbles to free her up space which help aid her as a dynamic playmaker. There’s a good reason Nicolette was voted for by the community as the ‘Next Gen POY’.

This was my second time seeing Nicolette play, and she impressed again just as much as the first. She has a super smooth stroke from beyond the arc, able to knock down shots both off the catch and off the dribble when creating for herself. Nicolette isn’t fazed by slight contact, forcing defenders to do much more to slow her down. She’s also a strong ball handler who stays composed under pressure, never letting defensive intensity disrupt her rhythm.

Nicolette was the only rising freshman in a group full of upperclassmen, but you’d never know it. She stayed poised and confident, making her presence felt on the court with her deadly shooting ability and impressive court awareness. Her quickness makes her a lockdown on-ball defender and a threat to pick off passes. Bellingham High School will be lucky to have her this upcoming season, and she is definitely a name to watch out for in the years to come.

Nicolette Hayes Nicolette Hayes CG Bellingham | 2029 State New E (2029) | CG | Bellingham
What would this list be without Hayes? She’s a combo guard that can serve many roles in a game due to her diverse skillset. She’s someone who’s extremely comfortable with the ball in her hands, but she also has no problem sliding to off-ball positions due to her marksman like ability. Hayes has deep range, and she won’t hesitate to pull from distance. She’s quick, so the defense usually doesn’t have time to react properly to her. Hayes is regularly catching opposing players sleeping because her decisiveness. Her smooth rhythm is one of the more noticeable traits in her game.

Nicolete Hayes (2029) | CG | Bay State Jags
The Underclassman POY is one of the premier guards in the class that’s been a strong contributor playing up in high school as well as developing rapidly with the Jags. The dynamically swift guard has the ability to play on or off the ball without a drop in production either. Hayes is quite slithery, getting downhill with a purpose and her long-range shooting capabilities are what put her above many other in the class.

Nicolette has been one of the best performing 8th graders that played on the high school scene this year. There’s no debating, Hayes’ potency for Bellingham, despite her youth. Sometimes it may be forgotten that she was in the c/o ’29 with the way she supplies her team with timely playmaking. There was a plethora of attributes that stood out through the course of her first season. She checked many boxes for her team and they looked to her to affect the game. Hayes has a nice inside & out game; she’s a player that understands the spots she’ll be most effective in. Nicolette makes quick decisions with the ball in her hands better than most upperclassmen. The ’29 guard is also an underrated defender. She has remarkably fast reactionary skills, especially when shooting the lane to disrupt the flow of the offense. In transition defense, Nicolette picks up players on the spot and has shown many times that she can get a stop when numbers aren’t in her favor. She’ll be playing with the Bay State Jags, competing in a rigorous schedule that’ll surely sharpen her tools even more. Again, congratulations, the impressive play doesn’t go unnoticed.

Nicolette Hayes Nicolette Hayes CG Bellingham | 2029 State New E (2029) | CG | Bellingham
This may very well be the highest producing player on the high school level in the class. She’s the lead player on her Bellingham squad and has got them great seeding this year within the postseason. It’s hard to imagine an 8th grader lighting it up on the big stage against some of the best talent in the entire region, but that’s precisely what Hayes has been doing. She sports a very nice long-distance shot, puts the ball on the floor impressively for someone her age and isn’t afraid to make daring plays. Nicolette utilizes the space on the floor well and her tendency to mix it up keeps defenders guessing at all times. Not only can she shoot from extreme range, but she also can knock down the midrange, as well as having the mastered skill of finishing with both hands at the rim. The ’29 guard has even become proficient in floaters, providing the secondary defenders with yet another quality look in the lane. The essential playmaking attributes Hayes already possesses gives grounds to the high-ranking. Hayes is listed as #5 ranked player in the class.
