Capping off her senior year with a state title, Nikki has been a constant threat as a player for the past four years. She has been a part of three trips downstate, and each time, she has shown why she’s one of the best players.. not just guards in this state. The next step is the SEC, a big adjustment… but she has done it before. An amazing high school career.

This year, Kerstein will have to take her aggressiveness to another level. It might seem easy to double- and triple-team her on every possession, but betting on her not making a play isn’t a safe move. Averaging a double-double will not be far-fetched.

We have yet to see Nikki at her very best in high school, which is scary to think about—seeing how much she’s done in 3 years. However, after losing a couple of major pieces to her HS program, Kerstien will be tasked with doing more, and she has the skill set to do it. The offers are still rolling in, and there hasn’t been a decision on where she’ll start her college career, but I don’t think they will affect her play at all. We could be in for a monster senior season for Nikki.

Nikki has been regarded as one of the top 3 point guards in the state since her freshman year. As the last uncommitted player in our top 10, she has over 20 Division I offers to consider, which tells us that her decision will be well thought out. She’s a complete basketball player, that can create opportunities out of nothing. She has exceptional court vision, that allows her to map out where her teammates should be, and where they could be. She truly has a natural feel for the game. Her high basketball IQ, combined with some strong defensive skills, makes her a complete standout on both ends of the court.

Kerstein’s ability to knock down shots as well as facilitate is key to her being so high on many college recruitment boards. In all systems, Kerstein’s skillset can thrive. She doesn’t need the ball to be successful, but if it’s in her hands, she shows high IQ and the ability to make quick and accurate decisions. If she’s off the ball, she has the smooth and confident form to knock down shots off the catch.

I don’t usually write about non-Indiana kids, unless they really stand out to me, but I felt like Nikki was absolutely worth a mention based on her play Sunday Morning. It’s not so much that she is overly talented or anything like that; she uses her mind and her high skill level to beat opponents. It seems like she is playing chess out there, while everyone else is playing checkers. She sees the floor, anticipates two passes ahead, and she makes highlight plays without trying to be flashy…it’s just the correct play in the moment. Her ball-handling and passing are fun to watch.

One of the most all around talented players in this class, Nikki has continued to show her ability to adapt and contribute. Wether its the high level playmaking ability, shot making ability or her patience with the ball.. She has the full skillset. The move to Mac Irvin should be a perfect fit considering the up and down/ fast paced play style.

‘s 28-point game was impressive, but what stood out even more was her strategic offensive play. Her drives to the basket were marked by a clever hesitation move, enabling her to out maneuver taller defenders and excel in the paint. Hard to believe that we still have another year of growth from her and seems to be settling in well on this Montini team.

. A player that brings a ton of talent on the offensive end of the court. With her ability to space the floor, score around the rim, and create opportunities for her teammates, Kerstein should add a new dynamic to Montini’s offensive schemes. As one of the top players in the class of 2025, Nikki has the potential to keep the success going for the Broncos.
