About Payton

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Very smart team player. Big, strong rebounder and shot blocker. Good short range jump shot. Lots of points off offensive rebounds. Her best asset is her ability to see and understand the court and make pinpoint passes. Can play effectively in a high post or 5 out style as athletic ability is above average.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Bubbly and friendly, but very serious on the court. Great teammate (pass first mentality) both in-game and after. High academic achiever and always willing to help out school mates.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Very active in school clubs (band, book club, Spanish club) and the Special Olympics. Accepted into prestigious Advanced Math at Marist High School. Currently, a school Ambassador and recruiter, often giving tours of the school and helping out the younger students. Has volunteered in various sports at the Special Olympics for the past 4 years, where athletes recognize and remember her.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Has always been a leader on teams, even when playing up. Very social with teammates outside of game time. Loves volunteering at the Special Olympics especially with Basketball and tennis. Participated in a Leadership Camp this summer

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Heading into 2 large National 13U tournaments (Run 4 the Roses & Nike), fractured her ankle at an elite basketball camp and had to miss both tournaments. After a few days of sadness, turned it into an opportunity to become a voracious reader completing 6-7 books during rest and rehab.

What type of college are you looking for?

High academics. Stanford is the dream school. Larger.
