Lacey was back in action over the weekend and she looked like the premier talent she is. Yes, she’s young, but her decision-making skills are advanced for someone in ’31. Most prospects in her class don’t show the poise, control and fluidity Peyton does.

Peyton plays with great feel and vision, consistently making the right reads for her team. Her high-arcing floater allows her to finish over taller defenders, and she does a strong job recognizing when defenses collapse, kicking out to open teammates instead of forcing shots. With her ability to see the floor and apply pressure defensively, she impacts the game in multiple ways.

Peyton continues to impress every time out. She helped lead her middle school team to a 15–2 record, a Final Four appearance, and a Northwest Division title. Over those 17 games she scored nearly 450 points and recorded close to 100 steals. Peyton has a very tight handle and does a good job getting her team organized offensively while bringing the ball up the court. She finishes well with both her left and dominant hand, making her a dynamic scorer around the basket and a name to watch before she reaches high school.

Peyton is an excellent ball handler who uses smooth, controlled moves to protect the ball and advance it against heavy pressure. She is comfortable navigating through double and even triple teams. As a shooter, Peyton is highly effective pulling up from three, creating space with side steps while staying balanced on difficult attempts. On the defensive end, she plays well at the top of full-court press looks, jumping passing lanes and generating steals.

Peyton is a quick and shifty ball handler who uses a variety of moves to get past defenders and attack the basket. She finishes impressively through contact and over taller defenders, showing confidence and body control at the rim. Her quick release allows her to get shots off immediately from both mid-range and three-point distance. She’s a high-effort player who dives for loose balls, takes charges, and already stands out playing up a year with the 8th-grade team, making her a name to watch moving forward.

It’s a little early to be mentioning 2031 players, but Lacey is such a notable prospect that she should be listed. Peyton understands the game and processes it a high level, despite her age. An expert facilitator, she has the ability to make the right reads in a pinch plus Peyton is one extremely polished ball handler. All these advanced attributes make her a fantastic point guard to watch. She’s even an aggressive defender that knows how to be effective in individual matchups or within the team’s schematics.

Peyton Lacey (2031) | CG | Bay State Jags
Usually, 2031’s wouldn’t be included amongst the stately performances happening during this time, but Lacey’s abilities are too dignified to overlook. The lengthy combo guard plays with a nice pace and she’s a decisive decisionmaker with the ball in her hand. Peyton uses change of speed dribbles that allow her to get past initial defenders despite them doing their best to contain. Even as the lane seemingly closed off, many times the crafty guard was able to slither her way into the paint for a basket or to throw kickout pass. Her euro step is lethal and even though she plays with a lot of finesse, her paint touches lead to fouls. Lacey was able to capitalize on those fouls by knocking down her free-throws. The ’31 combo guard does not play like the average rising 7th grader.
