Expert Analysis
Tony Chapman | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Massey is going make a NAIA school (even Division II) happy with her talent if she decides to play basketball in college. Another player who thrives in an up tempo game, Massey scored 51 points in three state tournament games as the Pioneers upset Lincoln Christian in overtime in the opening round. Scored 24 points in a semifinal loss to Malcolm and is the definition of a leader on the court for coach Eric Jones. Had season averages of 11.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

of Fort Calhoun High School. Massey comes in at #8 in this Update and for good reason. Massey is a 5’9 CG, that can move around the 1, 2, or 3 spot at this moment in time. She is skilled enough that she can handle the ball and run her team’s offense or she can dominate as a 2/3, where she can navigate with more space and timing. At Fort Calhoun she is called to make a lasting impact each contest and so far throughout her career, she has done just that. Now it’s all about what she can do moving forward.

embodies what that means as a hooper. She comes on the floor, makes play after play for those around her, not looking for any credit in return. She is also very good at creating herself off the dribble within the right types of systems. In this Update, Massey comes in at #7. A respectable place to be in a Class that could have 7-10 D1 hoopers at the end of the day. That’s the pace we are on and that’s something you love to see for everyone included!

was someone that stepped onto the Varsity floor and made her mark as a Freshman last Winter. Massey competes from the guard position, moving mainly around the 1, 2, or 3 positions on a nightly basis. From everything I’ve seen, she is more of natural 2 or 3 but it’s not like she isn’t a solid ball-handler, who could run the offense of her team if need be. During her debut season 12 months ago, Massey stepped up and helped her team each contest. She was someone that was willing to take important shots in big moments and that confidence she has displayed is going to be even greater this upcoming season. This is a player that will be a leader for her Fort Calhoun program for years to come by the looks of it and I’m sure she is ready to handle that pressure thoroughly.

has a lot of standout ability on the court but the rate she makes the ball go into the basket offensively is nothing short of noteworthy. Massey is a guard, that is the definition of a three level scorer. When she has her hands on the ball offensively, she looks like the smoothest operator on the floor, no matter who she is lacing up against. I’ve had the chance to see Massey first hand twice this past year at the Varsity level and both times she killed it. She is going to be a force to be reckoned with on this team and within this program. If she stays dedicated to this sport over her next few years, I wouldn’t be surprised if she gets a ton of love from collegiate recruiters. She can really score that thang and that’s going to standout to anyone watching.

of Fort Calhoun averaged one of the highest PPG averages amongst all Freshman throughout the State of Nebraska this past few months and her game is only going to get better moving forward. Massey is a PG with quick hands and fast feet, who has an act for getting steals in the open court, usually ending the possession in a transition bucket for herself or an open teammate up ahead of the play. She has consistently demonstrated that she is good at getting her eyes up and passing the ball whenever the opportunity may present itself. When she wasn’t getting steals in the truckload this Winter, she was bringing up the ball and running a lot of her team’s action offensively. I need to see Massey compete on the road this Spring to get a better feel for her overall play-style against tougher competition but from everything I’ve seen up until this point, she checks off a lot of boxes that recruiters would have for someone to be able to compete at the next level.

Fort Calhoun High School has started off their season with a 2-0 record and a main reason for that being because of the play of this teams underclassman. One that I am specifically talking about is

. Massey is a point guard, that is seeing the floor a good amount this season already. In her first two contests, she is averaging 10 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 1 APG, and 3 SPG. Some good numbers accounting for the factors that her team is undefeated and holding their own in most major categories compared to their opponents. I would categorize Massey as more than just a system player but she definitely makes her teams system work more smooth than it would without her. If she can continue with this production and start to get her teammates involved a little bit more from her PG spot, this team will be running at full speed moving into the Playoff’s, when they come around at the beginning of 2024.
