Following a junior season where she averaged over 20 points per game for Triton, Essig has continued to put up major offensive performances all summer. The Southern MN Fury guard led the way for her team at the Meltdown, scoring 54 points over the course of the weekend. A tenacious, scrappy floor general with a serious burst of speed, Reagan excels at getting downhill. Her ability to change pace in an instant, plus a tight handle on the ball allows the Cobras senior to leave her defender in the dust and score at the rim. In addition to her offensive contributions, Essig displayed her strong court vision, playmaking abilities, and aggressive, attack-style defense over the weekend, leading the Fury to a 4-1 record.

The number of prospects coming out of Southeastern Minnesota in recent years is remarkable. While schools like Stewartville, Kasson-Mantorville and Goodhue always draw lots of eyeballs, the Triton Cobras from Dodge Center are not well-known. Perhaps Essig will change that. This prospect is a jock with the athleticism, build, bounce and aggression we look for. Her energy, effort and compete level are outstanding. Her confidence is impressive for a young player. And Reagan has speed and quickness, too. Essig is an intriguing prospect we’ll be watching closely.
