DeRose should be on the must see list of numerous college coaches. She’s really shown her ability to pass the ball this spring with her Capitol City Express 2025 team. DeRose has been throwing strikes on a string to teammates down the floor and then using precision bounce passes in traffic. She’s also shown the ability to attack the rim and score.

I don’t have any miraculous assist numbers for DeRose, but I don’t need them. If you like a guard that uses the pass to get the ball from A to B, you need to watch her play. She’s very unselfish with the ball and seemed to make very few mental mistakes with the pass. DeRose was very adept at getting scorers the ball.

Reece Derose started the travel season with a very impressive first game for Capitol City Express 2025. She beat her defender off the dribble and stopped on a dime to hit a mid-range jumper, finished a layup full speed in transition, and made a strong overhead pass to hit her teammate in stride for an assist. Reece threaded a bounce pass through defenders, split two defenders to draw a foul at the rim, and knocked down free throws when she got to the charity stripe. Reece is a talented PG coaches should make time to watch this spring (MOI Undecided).

Leslie High School has themselves a really good junior backcourt. DeRose has been a point guard’s point guard. She’s taking advantage of opportunities and scoring at a high percentage. DeRose has also been an equally high percentage passer that’s getting the ball from A to B in an efficient and effective manner.

DeRose definitely earned a spot on this list. Don’t have her offensive numbers and don’t need them. DeRose could have sipped tea while her team scored and she still would have been a difference maker. Her perimeter defense ruled the day. DeRose saw the action 1 step ahead and forced her opponents to do things or be in spots that were uncomfortable.

Reece has a very high basketball IQ. She can really facilitate an offense as a PG, as her passing abilities are top-notch. Reece is a leader and proves that by consistenly6 showing up for her team. She can score at all levels and locks down on defense, requesting to guard the other teams’ best players. You might want the ball in her hands at the end of a game, too, as she hit several buzzer-beaters this spring/summer season! – Coach DeRose

DeRose showed off her game very well with the Capitol City Express last weekend. I really liked her versatility and her ability to contribute in whatever way her team needed. If they need a bucket, DeRose delivered on her way to 2 13 point games. If CCE needed a ball handler, she showed she could do that as well. In addition to her steady offensive play, DeRose was solid on the defensive end as well.

DeRose has played very well for a young and talented Leslie squad. She’s a mature scorer that doesn’t force the issue, but still finds quality shots that helps her put up points consistently. DeRose is quickly becoming a player that college coaches will want to have notes on.
