Travel is often talked about as a factor that can sap a team’s performance. But when that team is as stout as Asheville School is, the motto might as well be “Have Basketball…Will Travel.” Hernandez led her Blues to a 60-49 victory over one of the premier teams in the Palmetto State in 4A Daniel. She tallied 19 points. Asheville School as a team was true on five of its attempts from 3-point range. Two of those were by way of Hernandez. She also knows how to turn defense into offense to create additional possessions for her team. Hernandez also excels in the transition game. Her recently completed AAU career included a stint with Team Unlimited. Newberry, Montreat College, Greensboro College and Mars Hill have all extended offers in her direction.

is an excellent scorer for her team finishing on both sides of the rim, using quick stops to hit her jumper, and showing off her range shooting from downtown. She knows how to find the open lanes even without the ball looking for the pass whether she’s making a hard cut to the basket or she’s fling up the court on a fast break. She knows how to use her IQ on defense anticipating what her opponents are going to do next.

Hernandez is a complete player who does it all on the court. She scores over 18 points, she rebounds well from the guard positions, and she is an exceptional defender. Hernandez is fast and uses her quickness to force over 5 steals a night. Additionally, Hernandez is an efficient shooter who is connecting on 51% of her shots from the field and 84% of her free throw attempts in the 2024-2025 season.

showed off her range shooting the ball, and she was creating space herself to knock down the shot. She uses screens well knowing how to move off of them to get the open look. She hustled back on defense showing off her ability to block some shots on fast breaks protecting the basket. To further show how she cnan do it all, she crashes the boards coming up with rebounds on both ends, and she can easily turn steals into fast break points with her speed.

The NC product continues to wow the state TN. She had a huge 19 point performance as she’s proving to be a load in the paint. When she establishes herself in the post, and catches deep, it’s automatic. Does a great job knowing how to use her body to create passing angles for her guards.

Ryann Hernandez hit her 1000th point this season, and she is not planning to slow down her scoring abilities. She is shifty being able to create some space with her ball handling pulling up for jumpers or getting all the way to the rim. Sh knows how to read her opponents well working with what they give her on defense as she attacks the gaps or makes the dish to her teammates. Her ability to knock down shots from deep makes her a three level scorer.

The kid can just plain hoop. She put up a 19 point performance on 9/13 shooting (I don’t teach math…but that’s 70%….and I’m pretty sure thats good). She did all her work in the paint, and I didn’t even see her her attempt a three. She’s got great instincts in the paint regarding how to use her shoulders, initiate contact, when to head fake, step-through, give an extra pause to throw off the defender’s timing, etc. She followed up the 19 point game with a 17 point game. She was just unstoppable. When she catches deep, she’s a bucket. She also can sit down and guard, and I have her graded as a plus rebounder. Really like the efficiency and IQ of her game, and as she extends her range she has HUGE upside.

Ryann Hernandez is a quick and athletic guard with a nice mid range game, and swift moves to the basket. She’s stepping onto a new team with different expectations, and she continues to get better and improve each game. I thought she was really impactful all weekend long.
