Lawrence County High School came into their district tournament as the #2 seed and managed to win the tourney, getting them a one seed for the upcoming regional tournament. Hughes’ physical offensive play style was on full display in the district final against Giles County, as she scored 15 points. And while Hughes can just use her strength to carve a path to a bucket, she can also be crafty in generating points in the paint.

For a forward who plays mainly in the interior, she has high-level footwork. She pairs this with an awareness of what moves to do, given how an opponent defends her. With the obvious work she puts in perfecting these moves, she is effective when she uses them.

On day three of the tournament, she created several different ways to get to manuever and get a shot at the basket. She scored off a shoulder fake at the start of one game. Later in the same game, she got a defender in the air with a pump fake and created a shot. She is a crafty scorer, and has solid playmaking to go with. If someone is open, she will find them.
