has been dazzling in her junior campaign. The point guard led her Comets to a 26-1 record prior to the loss in the state championship. At Linfield, Winslow put up impressive numbers all around, averaging 19.7 points and by far the tournament-leading 5.7 steals per game. Consistent across all three games, Winslow was the Moda Health player of the game in all three contests, with particularly impressive showings in the first game against Springfield — 14 points, 8 rebounds, 8 steals, and 4 assists — and the state championship loss to Silverton — 22 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 assists. With Winslow returning as a senior, Crater is already a serious contender for next year’s state championship.

is one of the best natural point guards that the state of Oregon has seen. Through the first half of the season, she has been one of the leaders in both point and assist averages with 17.3 points and 4.5 assists per game. This doesn’t include her prowess on the defensive end where she often contributes more than a handful of steals every game, including 4, 10, and 6 steals in her last three games. Just an all around stud, Winslow and the Comets have only dropped a single game all season, and are looking like the current favorites to win a 5A title.

is another player whose game could be praised in every aspect, however, her ability to turn other teams over and create possessions for her team is particularly impressive. She must be amongst the leaders in steals in the state. Over the past few weeks, Winslow 21 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 8 steals against Marshfield; 16 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and 7 steals versus Baker; and 23 points, 7 assists, and 6 steals in the win over Crescent Valley. Watching Winslow intercept a pass or strip a ball-handler and take it to the other end with her impressive speed is truly a thing of beauty. Winslow’s high level of play is a big reason why Crater is 12-1 and ranked first in the state in 5A, and she will need to keep this up as the Comets look ahead to the postseason.

In the last few years, Crater has been one of the best teams at the 5A level, and that is largely thanks to the incredible performance of Sage Winslow through her first two seasons. As a sophomore a year ago, she earned first team all-state, second team all-state from the OBCA, first team all-Midwestern league, and first team all-tournament at the end of the year. In the state tournament, she put up incredible numbers, averaging 20.0 points (first), 5.3 assists (second), and 6.7 steals (first) per game. This was just a continuation of what she had been doing all season long, however, as Winslow constantly plays like the type of player that you want on your team. She is incredibly quick and always seems to be one step ahead of everyone mentally as well, as seen by her incredible steal numbers, which results in her creating countless point-blank opportunities for herself and for her teammates. Winslow will be a point guard to watch as she leads the Comets in her junior season.
