Expert Analysis
Tonia Ziter | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
One of the purest athletes in the freshman class is Sam. She runs the floor effortlessly and combines fluid movement with imposing length that immediately stands out. On the block, she was nearly automatic, sealing defenders and finishing strong through contact. Defensively, she closes space quickly, elevates with timing, and alters — or outright rejects — shots with authority, making her a presence teams have to account for on every possession.

With a tough Ridgeline squad already proving they haven’t missed a beat without Emily Skinner, Sam has stepped seamlessly into a major contributor role. She’s been one of Ridgeline’s most impactful players to open the season, knocking down 10 threes in the early stretch and showing she can stretch the floor against any defense. And when she isn’t scoring, she’s just as dangerous—reading the floor, finding open teammates, and keeping Ridgeline’s offense flowing. She’s emerging as one of the key pieces driving their early success.

Sam was called upon to the varsity stage and contributed to the overall outcome of the game. She’s already put up 30 points in just two games for a Ridgeline squad that already has established contributors, proving she’s not just fitting in — she’s elevating the lineup. Her poise, scoring touch, and willingness to take big shots show she’s ready to be one of the players who will buoy Ridgeline this season, even as a newcomer.

Sam brings a confident floor presence for her age — composed with the ball, active defensively, and unafraid of physical play. She’s already shown a willingness to guard the perimeter and battle on the boards when needed, a combination that gives Ridgeline valuable versatility right out of the gate. With her tools and competitive mindset, she has the potential to grow into one of Ridgeline’s cornerstone players over the next few seasons. As she acclimates to varsity speed and physicality, she could become one of northern Utah’s standout guards in the Class of 2029.

Keep an eye on Brown as she has the length and the three-level scoring ability to really be among the best players in the state, regardless of class. She can handle the ball and play the 2 position, as she shoots the ball very well. When Ridgeline is at full-strength with all of theor players back and as they have built chemistry over the off-season they are a team that could pick up momentum through the season. one reason being that Brown will be able to mature and just learn how to be impactful, even when she is not scoring. Impressive player! Might be the best long term prospect in the class.
