Love this kids overall game. What a great leader and provides everything to the game to help her team succeed. Offensively she can penetrate and knock down the midrange, and she has a knack of just making plays. In command whenever she has the ball in her hands, Sammy is your consummate floor leader as the point guard for Tecumseh.

She’s the player that leaves it all out on the floor, puts her body anywhere it needs to be to get the basketball. Super intelligent player with great court sense and the ability to move without the ball. Defensively she can anticipate well and those were to be on the floor. Good pull up mid range jumper with a smooth shot and good footwork.

Excellent performance from the top returning player in the CBC, Sammy is a natural leader with the ability to beat you in a variety of ways. Not only does she show a strong command of the game, she can score from the perimeter or get to the rim. Great handles and a prolific defender.

After watching Tecumseh last week it was very apparent that Russell is going to have to do a lot for this team to be consistently successful both scoring and distributing. One good thing she does if she gets her teammates involved because she is unselfish but scores when given the opportunity. She has good body control on penetration to the rim. Smart player who is able to push tempo. Her game has really elevated!

Sammy will be counted on to do more than she ever has for the Arrows with the graduation of four college players last season, but she has already stepped up in her opener. Her game has really improved along with her leadership. Can knock down the perimeter shots or put the ball on the floor and get downhill. Active hands on defense and creates havoc for her opponent. Coaches kid, good basketball IQ.

With four players heading off to play in college, it will be Sammy and a new cast of contributors this season at Tecumseh. All indications this summer show an improved Russell with the strong floor game and leadership to take over things with the Arrows. Solid on-ball defender, will see her role change this year as the primary scorer.
