Gaona delivered a remarkable performance for Eaton versus Weld Central, scoring an efficient 25-points. She was active defensively, forcing turnovers and turning them into easy transition opportunities for her team. For the night, she shot 9-13, including 2-4 from beyond the arc. She showed her playmaking abilities, dishing out nine dimes. A great game for the senior point guard.

Combo guard that can play the ball handling and vision to play the point guard spot but also has deep range shooting capabilities that allows her to move to the 2 spot as well. Good baseline runner looking for the shot in the corner against the zone. Attack the baseline with the vision looking for the post to dot the I or hammer kick to the opposite corner.

What stood out the most was on defense. She played all over the place. In the 3-2 she battled for rebounds on the backside. In man she took on the taller players getting around them for the steals. At times she pressures the ball for a turnover. First time watching her play and just really liked the way she competed for every possession

Listed at just 5’3″, Gaona plays much bigger and her gas tank allows her to keep that same energy for the entire game. She has the handles to get to the paint and the toughness to finish through taller players or get to the free throw line. As a PG, her court vision is excellent, she can get the ball to her teammates in the right spots for them to score. Saryiah also has the court vision for her own buckets too. She can get points from mid-range and behind the 3pt line both. A confident defender, she is easily getting steals from dribblers and closing out to shooters on the wings. Gaona definitely doesnt let her height stop her, she is always in the paint battling for a steal and even a rebound. Saryiah is locked and loaded for the summer months.
