Tough ball player who can shoot it from deep at a high clip. This kid has improved and gained confidence in her game. Each year it seems she has added something to her tool belt, enabling her to school from multiple spots on the floor. Leads by example, puts on a show, her teammates follow her lead as she puts up numbers across the board. Solid talent who continues to grow each time she steps onto the floor.

I’m not sure there is a better pure shooter in the state than Saylor Clay Saylor Clay 5'7" | PG Washburn | 2025 State TN . Just look at the stats. She went for the following games:
Went 13-26 from 3! for 38 points vs WA
3 games with 8 3’s
3 games with 7 3’s
5 games with 6 3’s
She averaged 16 points a game with 85 made threes at 40%. I also really like that she made 94 FTs at 80%…it shows she can also aggressively attack the rim.

Washburn has one of the most fun backcourts in the state returning with ’26 Ebany Hill Ebany Hill 5'5" | SG Washburn | 2026 State TN and ’25 Saylor Clay Saylor Clay 5'7" | PG Washburn | 2025 State TN . They are both averaged 16+ points a game, and were amongst the state leaders in 3 pointers made. Not many teams in Washburn’s division will who two defenders that can shut down these two young ladies. They will certainly make a state title run.
Clay has improved every year, and isn’t just a scoring. She’s really improved her ability to attack a bad closeout and make a play off the bounce. She had a nice summer for ETA Thunder ’25 (Sizemore) and looks to build on a great career.

Saylor Clay Saylor Clay 5'7" | PG Washburn | 2025 State TN knows what she needs to work on: become a wing that stays locked in and doesn’t allow blow by’s. She’s doing a great job turning herself into a reliable defender, and even better, she’s really contributing on the glass! She had a 6 point, 7 rebound, 1 steal game followed up by a 15 point (3/4 from 3) and 3 rebounds.

Saylor Clay Saylor Clay 5'7" | PG Washburn | 2025 State TN has been really consistent this tourney. She knows what she does well..and she’s great in her role. She’s one of the best 3 point shooters in the state and she’s proved it this weekend. I’m always looking for the kids that WANT to defend and rebound though, because if you want to play in college, that’s what college coaches want—kids that simply “want to” defend. She’s played great defense and rebounded the ball really well (7 rebounds one game).

Saylor is a real deal knock down 3 pt shooter as evident of her 12 bomb game earlier thisrnseason which broke her school single game record. She can heat it up from the outside as wellrnas being able to create her own shot off the dribble. She is an excellent defender that brings lotsrnof speed. Saylors calm cool and collective attitude allows her to be very steady on both sides ofrnthe court.

Washburn is blessed with two high-level perimenter scorers. It’s like the old Trail Blazers with Dame and CJ….excepts Ebany Hill and Saylor like play legit D. It’s so much fun to watch two high-level perimeter kids get put together on a high school team…and then watch the IQ take over as they learn to play off one another.
Clay’s stat line is like a mirror of Hill’s: averaging 17 points on 3.2 made threes per game, on 41% from 3.
Are you serious? How do you ever guard that!!

Saylor Clay Saylor Clay 5'7" | PG Washburn | 2025 State TN had herself a day!! In a Tuesday night win, Clay scored 38 points and set the Washburn HS school record for 3’s in a game (12!). Clay has been mentioned several times by PGH as being one of the top tier shooters in the state….and a night like this was bound to happen eventually.

Clay continues her big-time season for Washburn. In another big win, Clay finished with 22 points and 3 made 3’s. She’s been amongst the best shooters in the state all season, and when her and Ebany Hill are both on, it becomes a high-powered scoring duo. Keeping following this Washburn club.
