Simmie Colson | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Long has gone from being a back to the basket player to showing a variety of offensive skills see evaluations here and to be honest with you, her turnaround jumper is going to create some issues for defenders. Midrange jumper keeps getting better as forget about blocking it yet seeing her being able to mix it up and attack from the wing is an asset because it keeps the defender on their toes. Rebounding and shot blocking also looked good

Long was one of the standouts at the PGH Freshman Showcase, and showing me she continues to add more to her game during the 3 on 3 games had me smiling, yet she also impressed @playerrimidies in the 5 on 5 see evaluations here

Long is textbook on the offensive glass: she comes down under control and patiently uses dribble drop steps to rise into a strong jumper. She also shows perimeter quickness to blow by defenders, while also communicating with teammates and providing effective help-side defense. Her balanced impact on both ends highlights her versatility and basketball IQ.

Long just wowed me as she continues to elevate her game. She has made quite a few of my Tip Sheets already, see evaluations here, but here’s a TIP, her work ethic is second to none, and she understands what she needs to work on, a lost art, and is doing just that by facing the basket to score from outside as well as showing stronger finishes using the “hands and footwork”. Her defense is solid in the paint, but she’s moving well enough to guard her man outside of it

Long is also “LONG and athletic” and the twin is becoming more overpowering around the basket. Part of that is she’s understanding how to use her strength, another part is her”hands and footwork” keep getting better. She also scored off the dribble, did a good job defensively, and played the passing lane, but her timing to block shots, how can I say this, SHOT up

Long reminds me of that other Scarlett because if you blink, her deceptive first step has her “Gone With The Wind” yet what I like about her is that she understands something very important, and that’s how to find ways to put the ball in the basket, you know, a versatile scorer. A couple of inches shy of the magic number, she faces the basket and shoots the jumper with confidence while being defended, yet scoring off the dribble and around the basket, putbacks included, after contact are equally impressive, yes, she rebounds on both ends

Long is a twin and she and her sisters’ games mirror each other in so many ways yet they’re separating themselves into becoming a formidable HI-LO threat on the court. Scarlett’s timing and rebounding are taking off yet her “hands and footwork” to score in the paint had me SMH because of the fluidity with which she’s doing it

Long as in, wait a minute, I already said that about her twin so let me go with she’s just shy of “the magic number”. Her numerous fakes to get open and attack and finish were nice, and so were her “hands and footwork” around the rim to finish, after contact included. She did a good job defending in and outside the paint, dropped the midrange and showed good timing to block shots

Long, yep she and Madelym are twins and their games mirror each other in so many ways but her turnaround jumper at my All Eyez On Me Individual Showcase got me going see evaluation here She started finishing stronger on my next sighting, and capped it off with this see evaluation here

Long continues to show me her solid skill set as well as her upside because her “hands and footwork” to finish will only get better and when you factor in she’s not too far from that magic number of 6’0 and her strong frame, I expect defenders to have some issues guarding her. Here’s the kicker, she can score from midrange as well as off the dribble, yet her court vision is also nice. She hit the boards on both ends and played the passing lane
