Player Bio
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
"I have learned that I am a shooting guard. My best shot is either a 15 foot jump shot or a 3 pointer. I have a consistent free throw, so I am working on gaining more confidence to where I can dribble in more to draw fouls. I am good at dribbling drills, but am working hard to where I can use them in game situations. I also am becoming more aggressive and stronger on defense."
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
"I am fun. I like to have fun on the court and learn anything and everything that I can. I know that I have to work harder than most players, so even after games and practice I go home and continue to work on things that I didn't fully dominate that day. I work really hard at being coachable. I think that is really important."
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
"I am involved in the youth group at church and I train at 4th Quarter for basketball every week. I am also hoping that I get into the Educational Talent Search program this coming school year. I participate in the Cherokee Nation Community & Cultural Outreach each year."
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
"I'm always the smallest on the court so I've learned that the small things count and add up to big things. I communicate, box out, have a positive attitude and work well with my teammates. A lot of players underestimate me. They don't think I can guard the biggest girl on the court or shoot. I also put in hard work off the court to better myself. I do community service through Cherokee Nation."
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
With Scottlyn only being 4'10, she has had the challenges of being the smallest on the court. It has disturbed her confidence at times, but she is learning that being small has its advantages. She is using her size to do unpredictable things. She has learned to be "annoying" on defense and fluster others and her boxing out causes players to foul her.
What type of college are you looking for?
"I want to go to college to play basketball-wherever that is or whatever that may look like I want to be where I will continue to grow and be the best that I can be."
