Expert Analysis
Mike Benson | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Skye is an excellent forward on the #2 ranked Valley City Hi-Liners. She is in her second season starting and was a big reason Valley City won the state title last season. She has continued her stellar play into her sophomore season. I like her physicality and her enthusiasm pursuing rebounds. She has strength that can transfer to the next level where she could be an effective forward. Nielson should be in heavy consideration for an All-Region spot.

Skye had a terrific season and helped Valley City to a Class A State Title. She earned herself a spot on the All-Tournament team due to her excellent play. She is a very steady player and someone who is going to be looked at because of how reliable she is on the floor. She is a strong athlete and has good size for a forward at 5’11. She plays the game the right way and is a key piece for the talented Hi-Liners.

Skye plays with the presence of a veteran player, even though she is just a freshman. She doesn’t get rattled in big moments and is trusted to help break opposing team’s full-court press defenses due to her excellent passing. She is good in the half-court, doing a nice job of passing to Burchill down low. She is also capable of exploding for 20 points any given game.

Skye is a blue-collar player, my favorite kind. She isn’t afraid to battle down low with the trees and she holds her own. She is an outstanding rebounder, always timing her jumps correctly to grab the ball at its peak. She is a great finisher around the rim, utilizing her body to maintain great positioning. She also draws fouls and is a good free throw shooter. Skye is a huge piece to Valley City’s success this season.

Skye is new to the varsity scene as freshman. She is a 5’11 post and someone who immediately caught my eye. I was really impressed with how well she moves and her body control. She is able to use her strength to leverage opponents and get into great rebounding position. When she gets an offensive rebound, she does a great job of keeping the ball high above her head and going back up for a layup. Skye is a freshman to keep an eye on as she progresses throughout high school.
