About Sofia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My focus when I am on the court is to impact winning by doing whatever my team needs. Whether that be rebound, guard a bigger player, set screens, play great help defense, move without the ball, communicate or score inside / outside.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I pride myself on being a high IQ basketball player who is extremely coachable and a hard worker. I enjoy watching film and learning how I can continue to get better. I apply this same mentality to my school and volunteer work, constantly striving to be better every single year.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved with AB Hoops League, SWENext (Society of Women Engineers) and Junior National Honor Society. I've received the following awards: High Honor Roll, PTS Headmaster Leadership Award, 2024 ISSF Star Award, 2024 Jacobs Teen Global Innovation Challenge - Honorable Mention, 2025 World History Meritorious Achievement Award, and 2025 Community Service Award.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I serve as the Commissioner for an all-girls recreational league (ABHL) that I used to play in. I am in charge of budgeting, sponsorships, registration, uniforms, recruiting coaches / refs / volunteers, stats, social media, practice planning and I coach as well. We've built a social media following of 1k, game day crowds of 250+ and have 65 girls (3rd-8th grade) playing basketball each fall.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

In the grand scheme of things, I have not faced any significant challenges. In the past year, my doctors diagnosed me with sports-induced asthma and anemia. It's taught me to be even more disciplined with my diet, sleep schedule, preparation and recovery.

What type of college are you looking for?

First and foremost, I am looking for a college that is the right fit for me academically that will enable me to be successful in my career off the court. In terms of basketball, I would like to find a program that will focus on my development as a player and person and has a great culture that balances hard work and fun.
