Read had me #D1Lock dropped on her in the 6th grade, so watching her elevate her game has been a pleasure. Her “poise under pressure” in the early days told me a lot, and she is a “clutch performer” who wants the ball in the heat. Her court vision and controlling the tempo set the tone, but her jumper and scoring off the dribble were also huge

Read grabbed my attention years ago when I was speaking to an official who asked me what it took to be an expert at this and I told her “Make people believe you know what you’re talking about” Without closing the sentence, I said, “READ my lips, she is a #D1Lock”. Not sure how many she has on the table but I do know it has been set with LEGITIMATE offers and watching her poise under pressure playing up in front of next-level coaches is a huge plus because she can control the tempo, as well as score under pressure. She also sets her teammates up for easy looks and her upside is solid

Read had me smiling when I remembered dropping that #D1Lock on her in the 6th grade yet she continues to elevate her game. She’s heady and sets the defender up yet she’s powerful off the dribble and contact was irrelevant on her finishes, body control also played a part. Her step back was solid as she dropped the mid to long-range jumper yet she saw the floor, played solid defense, and showed good timing

Read is the perfect last name for this talented point guard because she “reads and sees the floor” through a microscope yet she too was in the 6th grade when I dropped my #D1Lock on her because event then, her ability to do things instinctively and her reactions in certain situations sealed it. She scores from mid to long range as well as off the dribble, yet she also passes well while attacking the basket yet watching her thread the needle in traffic in the open court is really nice and she does it with either hand

I have never seen (in person) a freshmen with such a mature game and demeanor like Sofia’s. The way she plays the game from the PG spot was unlike any other player at the showcase and she constantly had me saying “Whaaaaaat!?” from the sideline. Her vision in the open court was truly a sight to see and the way she was able to break defenses down in the half-court reminded me of a 4 year varsity level player. Sofia is a true floor general and has the ideal basketball IQ that coaches look for in PGs. Calling for ball screens (and using them correctly), waiving her teammates in the direction to throw back door cuts, textbook use of the crossover and jab-step, and knowing where to be when she played off the ball. All signs that this hooper is ready to take her game to the varsity level NOW. Lets not forget that she can knock down the long ball with the best of them. I’m super excited to see where her game takes her. If you get a chance to see her play in person, just remember, you heard all of this here first.

Read is another point guard who will make the transition to high school with ease and I think I called her a #D1Lock before her first middle school game and of course, I was right. She has the FLOATA down pat, that is going to be a problem for defender because she stays under control and sets everything up patiently. She handles the ball and sees the floor under pressure, mid to long-range jumper is nice yet her defense in the set is more than solid as her pressure helped to create turnovers, oh yeah, she plays the passing lane

Read’s improvement this season alone has been special for me as I think back to watching her I guess 3 years ago when I dropped that famous #D1Lock on her and when you show me “poise under pressure” while playing up and contributing, well I just know so her ability to control the tempo has certainly been a treat for me to see. Her court vision, peep this, throwing on the money passes 20 plus feet aways going full speed, with hand is something I don’t see many guards heading to college doing. She also scores off the dribble and well as mid to long-range
