This season may not have ended as planned for the Chiefs of 5A Division 2 North Myrtle Beach who were undefeated until the Lower State semifinals against eventual champion Berkeley. Powell still can celebrate her reaching the 1,000-point plateau. She accomplished the feat on Feb. 12 when the Chiefs earned a 62-42 victory over region foe Carolina Forest. Powell was one of two Chiefs who scored 18 points in that contest and she also added seven rebounds, six assists and five steals in that matchup with the Panthers. The 2025-26 season would see Powell compete in 22 games for North Myrtle Beach where she averaged 14.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.9 steals per contest.

Powell was one of two high-profile transfers to join 5A Division 2 North Myrtle Beach prior to the start of the season – said addition to the Chiefs has paid dividends. She ensured the Chiefs would preserve its unbeaten record by adding 14 points to North Myrtle Beach’s 63-22 victory over 2A Mullins. Powell is an efficient floor-runner who is also an effective cutter to the rim. Making plays in the transition game is another one of Powell’s strong areas. Even though Powell is listed as either a three or a four, she can handle the ball as if she was a point guard.

Riverside’s loss is set to be North Myrtle Beach’s gain in 2025-26. Following a career with the Warriors where she claimed state hardware two seasons ago, Powell will spend her final go-round through the high school ranks sporting Chiefs blue and gold. One may not find plenty of flash to her game but will spot plenty of fundamental soundness. A 5-foot-10 four forward, she plays effective interior defense which includes the ability to come away with plenty of rebounds. Her shot blocking has also improved over the years – as have other aspects to her game. Powell is a double-double threat on a game-by-game basis – she averaged 11.8 points, 10 rebounds and 2.3 steals last season at Riverside.
